Privacy notice
Last updated 1 November 2026
TurnerMadeUK makes laser-cut contour maps to order. This notice explains what information the map designer collects, why, and what we do with it. We collect as little as we can.
What we collect
- When you send a request: your name, your email address, any notes you add, and your design. The design includes the area of map you chose, and any special places, labels or routes you added. These can reveal places that matter to you, such as a home or a holiday cottage.
- In Etsy mode, only your design and, if you give it, your name. Your order and payment are handled by Etsy under Etsy's privacy policy.
- While you design, nothing is sent to us. The map and preview are made in your own browser. We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers.
Why we use it
Only to reply to your request, quote, make and send your map, and keep basic records of orders. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract. We never sell or share your information for marketing.
Who else handles it
- Web3Forms passes your request to our email inbox (if the site uses it rather than your own email app).
- Our email provider (Google Gmail) stores the request.
- Etsy, if you order through our Etsy shop.
- Map data: while you use the map, your browser downloads elevation tiles from Amazon Web Services (AWS Open Data). Like any website request, this shares your IP address with AWS. Everything else, including fonts, hill names, water, roads and place names, comes from this site.
How long we keep it
We keep request emails until your order is finished and delivered, then delete them. Basic order records needed for accounts and tax are kept for up to six years. If you don't go ahead with an order, we delete your request within six months.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Your own device
The site stores nothing on your device, except a setting used only by the shop owner to unlock their download tools.
